Woman goes to refurb the house her grandmother - a Hollywood star - used to live in, and of course when you clear closets you find skeletons. Add a graphic novelist neighbour to the mix and you have another typical Nora book. At least with Nora there's usually a few twists along the way, and the writing is of a decent standard. A pity her editor and type-setter let her down in one or two places (A color pallet? really? The American spelling of colour is no problem, as Ms Roberts is American, but confusion of the homophone really jarred, and this is just one example)
Write by numbers M&B. Easy reading with brain in neutral, although the villain was at least slightly more disguised than in the last book. This may be because there was more use of red herring characters, but at least it meant that I didn't spend half the book wondering why the lead characters were so blind!
Note that most will be chosen specifcally to be light reading of the remove brain before starting variety. ;)
1 Sanctuary - Nora Roberts
This is not a new Nora Roberts, although I seem to have missed it in the past. It's a fairly standard plot of woman going home to face demons of both figurative and literal varieties, but pleasant enough to read in any case, and filled in the journey home well enough.
2 The Mistress of Hanover Square - Anne Herries
My first M&B Historical of the year, this is the third of a trilogy set in Regency England. Dashing heroes, evil villains, gorgeous gowns are all in plentiful supply. The one disappointment was that the villain was rather too obviously signposted, even for this genre.
Given that said school was in Yorkshire, my place of work is in Berkshire, and my family home is in Cumbria, it really is a major coincidence.
|What Greek Goddess are you?|
You are Persephone!
You are like Persephone, daughter of Demeter and wife of Hades. That's right...you are married to the god of the underworld...and that makes you QUEEN of the underworld. But you should tell your friends not to judge...sometimes good girls just fall for bad boys. Like Persephone, you are somewhat paradoxical, as you present a saintly aura part of the time and a wild child aura the other part. Whereas you can be a sophisticated lady, you definitely know how to bring out your politically INcorrect side. :)

The good: seeing family
The bad: not having husband/daughter there and missing the (cancelled) party
The ugly: the reason for the bad, being the unexpected illness of my nephew, who is thankfully now well on the mend
And the real pain: all the idiots who seemed completely incapable of using the (otherwise empty) lefthand lane on the motorways on the way home, especially the two lorries that appeared to be travelling in convoy.
Your result for The Nerd? Geek? or Dork? Test...
87 % Nerd, 22% Geek, 26% Dork
A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia.
A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one.
A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.
You scored better than half in Nerd, earning you the title of: Pure Nerd.
The times, they are a-changing. It used to be that being exceptionally smart led to being unpopular, which would ultimately lead to picking up all of the traits and tendences associated with the "dork." No-longer. Being smart isn't as socially crippling as it once was, and even more so as you get older: eventually being a Pure Nerd will likely be replaced with the following label: Purely Successful.

I took today as a 'day off' to get caught up on some studying....so what happens?
The child is ill, and so not at nursery/childminder as usual and so I doubt I'll get any study done today :(
Next chance for a day off when she'll be at nursery? That would be April!
Am still using the 'old' one atm, as the IT guy has just gone to lunch, and it would be just my luck to have everything die when he's not around!
(Also need a couple of odd things added on)
Major good point already is that it's slightly smaller than the old one, so will fit into my handbag with space to spare at the zip (old one went in, but only just). This means that I need to spend some time tonight emptying and sorting my various handbags ready for my trip away next week, as I now know I can use the handbag instead of the laptop bag...
There is but one problem: I cannot find it in anything other than single serving sachets, which are an expensive way of buying it, plus one sachet isn't quite enough to fill the mug I use at work.
And so a plea: does anyone know where I can find this in a jar?
I have seen (nearly) all the other varieties in jars in various supermarkets, but the white chocolate is thus far undiscovered
